National Grid to resolve missing Generation Forecast for Wind and Solar on BMRS
What is happening?
Since the implementation of the BSC System Release on 1 November 2018, the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (BMRS) is able to provide Current and Intraday data in addition to the existing Day Ahead Forecasts for Wind and Solar as part of Article 14.1 (d) of the European Transparency Regulation (ETR) data.
National Grid would normally send the forecast data according to the following timescales:
- Day Ahead: first forecast data set sent at 17:00 (GMT) on the day before (D-1);
- Intraday: updated forecast data sent 07:00 (GMT) on the day (D); and
- Current: additional forecast data can be sent during the day when available.
National Grid is not ready to produce the Intraday and Current data files and is planning to start sending the data from Friday 7 December 2018. This will fulfil the ETR requirements where ENTSO-e, the European Network of Transmission System Operators, requires all Transmission System Operators (TSO) to send the data from 1 January 2019.
How will I be impacted?
The Intraday and Current forecast data has not been available to users on the BMRS website, BMRS APIs, Data Push and TIBCO Service. As a result the data is not published on ENTSO-e’ European Transparency platform.
Is there anything else I need to know?
