Planned infrastructure maintenance on the Energy Contract Volume Aggregation Agent (ECVAA)

What is happening?
There will be a period of planned downtime on the ECVAA application from 18:40 (GMT) to 21:40 (GMT) on 19 January 2022. This downtime is required for essential maintenance.

All other BSC Central Systems applications, and the Elexon Portal, will remain available throughout the downtime period.

How will I be impacted?
Common submission of Energy Contract Volume Notifications (ECVNs) and Metered Volume Reallocation Notifications (MVRNs) can continue throughout the planned downtime, but please refrain from bulk submissions during this time. All responses to notifications, and also the ECVAA Credit Cover Percentage check, will be suspended during the planned downtime.

Following completion of the downtime, all ECVNs and MVRNs that were received before their respective Submission Deadlines will be recovered and processed as normal. The ECVAA Credit Cover Percentage check will also be re-enabled.

Participants will be allowed to continue to trade throughout the deployment outage, and all ECVNs and MVRNs will be timestamped as they arrived and saved for later processing. All participant files will continue to be received, including the Market Index Data (MID) files that route to the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service (BMRS). There will therefore be no impact to BMRS, which will continue to be available and updated as normal.

What do I need to do?
You can continue to submit ECVNs and MVRNs during the planned downtime, but should be aware that responses to notifications will be delayed and not sent until the end of the planned downtime.

Will I receive ECVAA reports as normal?
Yes, the ECVAA downtime has been scheduled at a time that will have no impact on scheduled ECVAA reports.

Will the contents of any of the reports I receive be different?
No, the content of the reports you receive will remain the same.

Will there be any further communications about this downtime?
Yes, we will keep the Elexon Portal updated and will publish a further Circular on 19 January 2022 when the ECVAA downtime is complete. For more information please contact the BSC Service Desk.
